Our Long Run Roofing Process

From measure-up to handover — a clear sequence with your roof weathertight at the end of every day.

01

Site visit & inspection

We come out and get up on the roof where it is safe to — checking the pitch, structure, fixings and exposure, and measuring up for run lengths and flashings.

04

Site cleaned up once the job is done

All the old roofing, offcuts and packaging leave with us, and we run a magnet over the grounds and driveway to pick up stray fixings.

05

Final inspection and handover with warranty

We walk the finished roof with you and check every flashing and junction, then hand over your 10-year workmanship warranty and material guarantees in writing.

Long Run Roofing Questions

What exactly is long run roofing?

Long run roofing is steel roofing rolled to order in continuous sheets that run the full length of your roof, from ridge to gutter. Because there are no horizontal laps partway down the roof, there are fewer joins, fewer fixings and fewer places for water to find a way in.

How long does a long run steel roof last?

A well-installed long run roof commonly lasts 40 to 50 years or more depending on the environment and upkeep. The materials we install carry guarantees of 30–40 years, and our workmanship is covered by a 10-year written warranty.

Is long run roofing suitable for coastal and alpine conditions?

Yes — with the right coating grade and corrosion-resistant fixings for your zone, long run steel is one of the best performers in exposed Auckland conditions, from coastal salt spray to alpine wind and snow. Matching the material grade to your site is part of our quote.

Which profile should I choose — corrugate or trapezoidal?

It depends on your roof pitch, the look you want and the weather your roof has to handle. Corrugate is the classic New Zealand look; trapezoidal and rib profiles carry more water and suit lower pitches. We recommend a profile after we have seen your roof, not before.

Is a metal roof noisy when it rains?

Not the way people fear. With modern underlay and ceiling insulation, rain on a long run roof in a lined home is barely different from any other roof — the tin-shed effect comes from unlined buildings, not the roofing.

Can you replace my old tile or iron roof with long run?

Yes — tile-to-metal conversions and corroded-iron replacements are core re-roofing work for us. We strip the old roof, check the structure and underlay, and install the new long run roof in stages so your home stays weathertight every night.
